PEOPLE who failed to pay their rail fare were fined by South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court:

  • A PLYMOUTH man who was caught without paying his fare on the train at Newton Abbot has been fined £440. Liam Ashley Brown, aged 24, of Grand Parade, had a charge of travelling on the railway at Newton Abbot on April 17 without paying the fare proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £8.70 and a surcharge of £44 to fund victim services.
  • IPSWICH man Stefan Dumitru was fined £440 for travelling without paying his fare on the train at Newton Abbot. Dumitru, of Oxford Street, had the case proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £41.60 and a surcharge of £44 to fund victim services.
  • LONDON man Khalis Kush Gold was fined £440 for travelling without paying his fare on the train at Newton Abbot. Gold, aged 31, of Engleheart Road, had the case proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £194.60 and a surcharge of £44 to fund victim services.
  • EXETER man Daniel James was fined £440 for travelling without paying his fare on the train at Dawlish. James, aged 38, of Beaufort Road, had the case proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £24 and a surcharge of £44 to fund victim services.
  • STOKE-on-Trent man Jordan Mason was fined £220 for travelling without paying his fare on the train at Newton Abbot. Mason, aged 22, of Yeaman Street, had the case proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £8.30 and a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services.
  • DAWLISH man Sam Nelson was fined £440 for travelling without paying his fare on the train at Dawlish on April 11. Nelson, of Juniper Drive, had the case proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £3.40 and a surcharge of £44 to fund victim services.
  • TEIGNMOUTH man Dylan Perryman was fined £220 for travelling without paying his fare on the train at Newton Abbot on April 3. Perryman, aged 19, of Barnpark Terrace, had the case proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £4.40 and a surcharge of £44 to fund victim services. He was fined a further £220 for giving a false name and address to an officer of the railway company.
  • TORQUAY man Benediktas Varabauskas was fined £220 for travelling without paying his fare on the train at Newton Abbot. Varabauskas, aged 25, of Abbey Road, had the case proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £8 and a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services.
  • Newton Abbot man Joshua Wilkinson was fined £220 for travelling without paying his fare on the train at Teignmouth. Wilkinson, aged 27, of Haytor Terrace, had the case proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £4.10 and a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services.
  • BUXTON man Karac Williams was fined £220 for travelling without paying his fare on the train at Dawlish. Williams, aged 28, of Market Place, Hartington, had the case proved in his absence at South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £26.40 and a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services.
