DAWLISH Marina Bowling Club held their annual taster day on Sunday, May 10, in the sunshine.

They had a fantastic response with 23 people through the door and a definite 16 for coaching with some more possibles. The great turnout resulted from a huge effort by club members in publicising the event.

In the Ladies Triples Challenge, first Marina played the Den at home, winning on both rinks. This was followed by playing at Bovey Tracey where there was some rain to contend with however they again won on both rinks.

County competitions are in full swing with both the men and ladies playing in major and minor competitions which also includes Interclub. This ladies match was played on neutral ground at Madeira (Exmouth) versus Ottery St Mary on a very cold and wet day. At the end of 18 ends it was a draw meaning a tie break end, Ottery scoring two points to Marina’s one.

In the men’s leagues, the MDL Division One team drew against Shaldon, winning on one rink, drawing on one rink and losing on two rinks. The scores were level with Marina gaining six points and Shaldon eight.

MDL Division Four have only played one match so far and unfortunately lost to the Den.

The over 55’s Y teams suffered two losses against Shaldon and then Kingsteignton, the X teams won against Buckfastleigh but lost against Kingsteignton. The over 60’s played against Exonia C, the Marina lads bowled their socks off and ended up with six points.
