DAWLISH Celebrates Carnival chairman Angie Weatherhead has sent her grateful thanks to everyone involved in this year’s event.
Following the success of the week’s programme, culminating in the rain-soaked community parade, Angie has said a ‘massive thank you’.
She thanked all the volunteers, known as the Pinkies from their pink T-shirts, who helped before, during and after carnival week whether lifting, shifting, manning games, stalls and information points, selling duck tickets, collecting, litter picking and marshaling.
She said: ‘Thank you for keeping carnival on the road, there were so many of you supporting the event, each of you being amazing.’
Praise went to the sponsors, those who made donations and gave grants as ‘every little bit helped us put this fabulous week on’.
Contractors, stall holders and acts were thanked too for putting on activities so there was something for everyone.
Angie added: ‘And thanks to all the parade entries who turned out in the wet weather and smiled and danced their way down the parade route.
‘And to my fellow committee members who like me now have even more grey hairs and wonder where the last year went.
‘Finally to all those residents and visitors who came out during the week and the sheer numbers in the rain on Friday waiting to support the parade, I thank you. ‘My belief has always been carnival is about community and I think we achieved what we set out to do in 2023.
‘Our dates for 2024 are not yet confirmed but we hope you will join us again for another Dawlish Celebrates Carnival adventure in August 2024.’
