MAGISTRATES have fined a man for stealing food and racially and religiously aggravated threatening behaviour.

Nathaniel Pound, 32, from Exeter, pleaded guilty to stealing food and drink items worth £3.49 from the Spar store in Newton Abbot on November 1 2021.

He also admitted using threatening or abusive words of behaviour and disorderly behaviour at Newton Abbot on the same date.

He further pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating in Newton Abbot, also on November 1 2021.

The court found the behaviour was racially and religiously aggravated.

For the first two offences, Pound was fined £300 and ordered to pay victim services charge of £34, compensation of £3.49 and costs of £85.

For the assault charge, he was fined a further £120 and ordered to pay compensation of £50.
