A TEIGNBRIDGE hotel’s expansion plans have been given the green-light by planners.

The Exeter Court Hotel, off the A38 near Kennford, submitted an application to Teignbridge District Council (TDC) to erect a new building to provide additional accommodation.

The application - reference 25/00008/FUL - also sought permission to extend its existing restaurant area.

And TDC have granted planning permission, albeit with conditions, namely the submission of a Landscape Ecological Management Plan.

‘The development hereby permitted shall begin before the expiry of three years from the date of this permission [October 7]’, the council said.

A previous application was made in 2020, but, given the impact of Covid-19 on the hotel industry, it was not carried out.

The design and access statement for 25/00008/FUL says that the hotel’s aspiration is to ‘create a modern appearance that takes inspiration from the existing site.’

Furthermore, the proposal seeks to use ‘sustainable methods of construction to minimise the environmental impact of the building and reduce the running costs.’
