A HOLIDAY park in Tedburn Saint Mary set to expand with for more caravans is approved by planners has submitted documents to discharge conditions of its planning permission.

Submitted by Springfield Holiday Park, 25/01364/FUL sought permission for 17 additional static holiday caravans.

Teignbridge District Council (TDC) have granted permission in November, albeit subject to conditions, chiefly the submission of a Landscape and Ecological Management Plan (LEMP).

And now a LEMP, as well as a Biodivesity Gain Plan, have been submitted, bringing the plans one step closer to fruition.

The planning statement for 25/01364/FUL says: ‘Demand for holiday accommodation in South Devon is enormous but it is very expensive to purchase a flat or cottage in a seaside holiday town like Teignmouth, Dawlish or Starcross and equally in a landward town like Newton Abbot, Bovey Tracey or Chudleigh.

‘Existing holiday parks offer a less expensive alternative, a more economical solution that provides holiday accommodation at a more modest cost and often within an established attractive and pleasant setting with other facilities, such as Springfield Holiday Park’s openair swimming pool, a games room and laundry.

‘Demand for static holiday caravans is very strong in South Devon because they provide living space, two or three bedrooms, a kitchen, a shower room and toilet and outside decking to sit and enjoy the sun all at a more affordable price.

‘This development proposal of 17 additional static holiday caravans is satisfying the midmarket and more affordable segment of the holiday accommodation market.

‘It is a step above the touring caravan segment as it provides fully serviced, plumbed in holiday accommodation for a family that a touring caravan simply can’t’.

Owned by Hoey’s Caravans Limited, who also own five other caravan parks, Springfield Holiday Park lies in a woodland setting and offers self-catering tourist accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool and an indoor games room.

It is approximately a mile and a half from the village of Tedbury St Mary.
