PLANS for a new four screen cinema for Newton Abbot are due to be discussed by Teignbridge Council’s planning committee in November or December.

People are still be able to have their say on them.

The proposed building comprises a four screen cinema on the upper levels of 17 to 19 Market Walk, Newton Abbot, with two Class E units on the ground floor, associated ancillary accommodation as well as external works.

The proposal would also involve the partial demolition of some of the newer additions to the Market Hall building.

A Teignbridge spokesperson has clarified: ‘Statutory determination dates referenced in the information posted on our planning portal and based on when the applications were submitted have led some people to incorrectly think that decisions will be made this month.

‘Further documents relating to the applications have been recently uploaded to the planning portal and as a result the period for residents to comment is being extended.

‘A closing date for comments will be published once a date for committee consideration of both applications is set.’
