THERE was just the one match in the South Devon & Torbay Table Tennis League top-flight this week, which saw Brixham Sharks record another 9-1 victory as they saw off the challenge from Newton Abbot Ravens.
Aarish Maharjan and Bryan Birkbeck were again unbeaten for the Sharks, Stephen Hugh preventing the whitewash with the Ravens’ point.
The Brixham club are also going well in the second division as the early leaders, Brixham Trawlers, defeated Teignmouth Aces 7-3, Nick Shipley with a fine maximum for the Trawlers.
A Mike Dummett maximum for NA Falcons against Torbay Academy 3 got them back on track after last week’s defeat, the Falcons winning 7-3. The Torre Vikings started their campaign with an impressive 8-2 victory over Torbay Academy 2. Ed Crawford was back in action with a maximum for the Vikings.
In the third division, NA Harriers’ good start to the season continued with Albie Andrews again unbeaten as they defeated Torbay Academy 4, 7-3. A Nick Williamson maximum was not quite enough for Brixham Gulls as they shared the points with Torre Spartans.
Grove Tigers have made a very strong start to their fourth division campaign, Nigel Langley and Tom Foley were both unbeaten as they defeated Torbay Academy 6, 9-1.
Kevin Palin and Harrison Harkin maximums for Torbay Academy 7 saw the Academy home against NA Vultures. Brixham Seals had Will Mulholland to thank as his maximum was enough to help the Seals narrowly defeat NA Merlins 6-4.
