THERE were just three matches in the latest gameweek of the South Devon & Torbay Table Tennis League, rounding off proceedings ahead of the Christmas break.
In the first division, Newton Abbot Owls travelled to Halwell and came away with a fine 8-2 victory.
Jim McIvor had a maximum for the Owls who close to within a couple of points of Brixham Sharks in the runners up spot. NA Buzzards lead the division by twelve points having won six games from six, but both Brixham Sharks and NA Owls have a game in hand.
Halwell are in mid-table on 23 points, succeeded by Grove Guerillas on 19, NA Ravens on 16 and then NA Eagles on 11.
A maximum from Torre Vikings’ Ed Crawford helped them to a 6-4 victory over Newton Abbot Raptors in a second division encounter.
At the halfway stage of the season Brixham Trawlers lead the division by just three points, with NA Raptors, despite losing to Torre Vikings, moving up into the runners up spot.
Teignmouth Aces are a further three points behind on 34 whilst the Vikings have 33 to their name and sit fourth.
NA Falcons and Torbay Academy 3 are locked together on 23 points apiece, ahead of Torbay Academy 2 (20 points), who are bringing up the rear.
It’s all change again at the top of a very competitive third division.
NA Harriers hit the top spot following a 5-5 draw with clubmates NA Kites, Albie Andrews with an excellent maximum for the Harriers. The NA Harriers (42 points) take the lead from NA Kestrels (40 points) with Torre Spartans (38 points) in third.
NA Kites and Brixham Gulls are firmly in the mix as well when it comes to pursuing the title, the pair have 34 and 33 points respectively and both have a game in hand on the trio in front of them.
Taverners are sixth with 29 points and then Torbay Academy 5 have 23 and Torbay Academy 4 have 21.
No matches were played in the fourth division where the Grove Tigers hold a seven-point lead ahead of Teignmouth Delinquents.
They also boast a game in hand over their closest challengers and the top five can hardly be separated.
Torbay Academy 6 and NA Merlins are both on 39 points, one less than the Delinquents, plus fifth-placed NA Ospreys have 37 as well as a game in hand.
Torbay Academy 7 are sixth with 27 points, followed by Brixham Seals (23 points) and NA Vultures (18 points).
