A glorious end to the season was achieved by the Still Cup team of Teignmouth Golf Club, winning the finals of the Devon Golf Ladies competition for the second year running.

After coming through as leaders of a challenging group and semifinal, to come up against their formidable friends and rivals from neighbouring Torquay.

The final, played at Okehampton, was no easy task. The team of seven ladies: Susie Carr, Hannah Reynolds, Vicky Holloway, Lorna Elliot, Kendal Bradley, Hannah Stephens & Rosie Jago led by team manager Mandy Hall, knew they could take nothing for granted against such tough opponents.

First out was Susie, who had a tricky start against Keeley Clarke, she managed to stage a major comeback from 6 down to 2, but sadly ran out of holes; the first match down.

Next out was Hannah R versus Charlotte Dommett. A tough draw, though Hannah managed to secure the first win 3&2. This match was followed by Vicky playing Jenny Rhodes, coming off the back of a great season. It was nip and tuck for a while with Vicky 2 down after 13.

Tenacious Vicky got back to 1 down after 15 and then a nail biting all square on the 18th tee, winning the 18th and putting another one on the board for Teignmouth.

Lorna, in match four played against her friend Laura Coleman who was on form and managed to hold on until the 12th where it was sadly not to be. Suddenly things were very tense: all square with two wins each.

Teignmouth needed to secure either Rosie or Kendal’s match for a ‘back-to- back’ win and whilst Kendal was taking the 17th to go 1up, the message went through that Rosie had won on the 15th 5&3!

There were celebrations all round for the triumphant Teignmouth Still Cup Squad, caddies and unrivalled Pink Army!
