TOM Cleverley hailed Plymouth Argyle’s ability to “solve problems” as they came from behind to beat Blackpool 4-2 and make it three Sky Bet League One wins in a row.

The Pilgrims were far from their best during the opening stages at Bloomfield Road, but found another gear after falling behind to Jordan Brown’s deflected strike.

Oliver Irow levelled six minutes later before adding his second seven minutes into the second half. Harvey White then put Argyle in command with a superb finish before Jerry Yates gave Blackpool’s some late hope.

The visitors, however, were not to be denied and Bim Pepple finally settled it in the 89th minute as Argyle climbed to third.

Cleverley admitted Blackpool had caused his side problems early on.

“I saw my team a little bit flat,” he said. “We faced a more direct style of play than we were expecting. Maybe that was a little bit of a shock to us. They had us facing our own goal a lot and caused us issues.”

However, Cleverley was delighted with the way Argyle adapted.

“The players solved a lot of problems out there,” he said. “They deserve a lot of credit and scored four quality goals to win the game.”

The Argyle boss singled out goalscorers Pepple and White for special praise.

“Bim’s outstanding back to goal and an outstanding finisher off both feet,” he said. “For me, the pick of the bunch was Harvey White’s. To pluck it out the sky, swivel and then give the ’keeper the eyes and the clean strike at the near post, it was fitting of his performance.”

Argyle have now won at Doncaster Rovers and Blackpool either side of victory over Barnsley, but Cleverley is refusing to look too far ahead.

“It’s a game-by-game basis, but mentality and goals in the team give you the chance to come back from losing positions. They are hungry for more.”
