DAWLISH Marina Bowling Club held their annual presentation evening at the Langstone Cliff Hotel with 42 members attending on November 12.

The Langstone provided an excellent meal after which the proceedings got underway.

Members and their guests celebrated an outstanding season with both the ladies SDLA team having been promoted, coming third in Division Two and the SDLB team coming second and winning promotion to the third division. The awards were presented by President Cherry Chapman.

MEN: Singles Champion Mark Baker, 2 Wood Dave Nown, Pairs Dave Nown & Lee Wooldridge, Handicap Andrew Moore.

The annual Whitelegg Cup, the local derby against the Lawn was won by Marina for the men whilst the ladies’ competition didn’t take place due to the Lawn being unable to field a team.

The Seagar Cup, Marina’s annual men vs ladies event, was won by the ladies for the first time in 27 years.

It was a fun evening as Darryl Strong the competition secretary, aided by Tina Rowe, had a fitting piece of music for each winner coming to collect their trophy, in particular one member who is rather partial to a cup of tea or two had “I’m a little teapot” theme tune played, so everyone danced along.

The club are now look forward to stepping out on the green again in the spring with lots of members entering county competitions, league matches and club competitions next season. Good luck to everyone, there is much to look forward to.
