FOR the second year running, Newton Abbot Art Group members are delighted to be holding their Summer Exhibition at Newton’s Place from Tuesday, August 9, to August 26.
Co-chairs Virginia Griem and Jan Newton say: ‘We were so delighted with this exhibition space last year that we immediately booked it for over two weeks this summer.’
Around 20 artists will be exhibiting paintings in a variety of media, plus ceramics, and art wood. They’ve all been working hard since the end of the last lockdown, both during their weekly studio sessions and in their own studios and homes.
In addition to a range of medium to large paintings and drawings, this year, for the first time, artists have been asked to paint a series of miniatures.
As always this challenge has been met with enthusiasm and up to 30 original miniature paintings will be on sale with prices starting from as little as £10. There’ll also be a wide selection of greeting cards.
It has been a busy year for Newton Abbot Art Group.
Their communal artwork, ‘A Field of Flowers’, is brightening the staircase at Newton’s Place, providing a brilliant gateway to the Summer exhibition.
Downstairs in the museum, group member Kathie Weedon is displaying her beautiful hand-made sketchbooks – well worth a visit.
The exhibition itself will be on show in the first floor community space – just follow the trail of flowers up the stairs!
Entry is free, with the exhibition running from next Tuesday to August 26, opening times are 10am to 4pm from Mondays to Fridays, and 10am to 1.30pm on Saturdays. Closed on Sundays.
