THREE people have been taken to hospital, with one believed to have suffered serious injuries, following a house fire in Cornwood this morning.

Emergency services were called to Tin Park at around 5am on Tuesday, August 11, after reports of a domestic property on fire, with the possibility that people were still inside.

Three fire engines were initially sent to the scene, but crews found the property ‘well alight’ and requested a further three fire engines and a water bowser.

The fire later spread to nearby buildings, prompting a further four fire engines to be mobilised.

A total of 12 fire stations, including Newton Abbot and Buckfastleigh, worked to bring the fire under control.

Three occupants have been taken to hospital, one of whom is believed to have suffered serious injuries, Devon & Cornwall Police have confirmed.

An investigation to establish the cause of the fire is now taking place, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed.
