AN UNKEMPT small piece of ‘pavement’ in Teignmouth has gone on the market for £20,000.
Estate agents Dart and Partners have listed the land in Nelson Close as a ‘unique opportunity to acquire a tandem parking space’.
The sale of the small parcel of uneven land, complete with weeds, has sparked derision among some residents.
One asked: ‘Is this a joke?’
Another said: ‘Is this for a piece of the pavement?’
However, with parking, particularly in Nelson Close, always difficult in Teignmouth, the sale could spark interest.
The agent’s details include the fact that the land is within an ‘established residential location’.
The freehold sale his available on the open market to residents and non-residents of the close.
Reference to a ‘tandem’ space, which is taken to mean it can accommodate two cars side by side, has also caused some hilarity.
One commenter said: ‘There can’t be many people wanting to park a tandem.’
The listing describes the plot as off street and says the council tax band is ‘to be confirmed’.
The agents also point out it is in ‘close proximity to the Coombe Valley nature reserve’.
Marking the land has also prompted one commenter to ask: ‘Most people do this without paying, what’s the benefit here?’
But it has also been pointed out the land is privately owned and has a ‘no parking’ sign displayed on a wall.
One resident said: ‘There is a no parking sign there so it’s obviously owned by someone.
‘Parking in Nelson close is a big problem so two spaces might be useful to someone.’
Another added: ‘Parking is an absolute nightmare down Nelson close so to have two parking spaces would be a God send to someone there.’
