POLICE in Teignmouth are appealing for witnesses following two separate unprovoked assaults which left two men with serious injuries.
Having completed several lines of enquiry, officers are now asking anyone with information about either incident to come forward.
The first assault - reference 50260251585 - happened at around 12.20am on Sunday, 13 September, between the Teignmouth Library underpass and Grove Avenue.
A man in his 60s was attacked by two unknown men described as white British males in their 20s, both of tall, slim build and wearing dark clothing.
The victim suffered a broken nose, fractured ribs, a dislodged tooth and a laceration which required stitches.
In a separate incident - reference 50260216212 - a man in his 50s was assaulted on Shute Hill at around 9.25pm on Thursday, 13 August.
Police say he had been followed from Teignmouth Railway Station by an unknown man described as a young white British male wearing a black and grey hoodie.
The victim suffered a fractured eye socket, as well as bruising to his back and hip.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed either incident, or who has information which could assist the investigation, to contact them on 101 or via the Devon and Cornwall Police website.
The force also highlighted recent positive work in the area, including locating several high-risk missing people, engaging with young people over e-scooter use and urban exploring, increasing foot patrols and arresting a prolific Teignmouth shoplifter, who was remanded in custody after being caught leaving a shop by an officer in plain clothes.
