A CHARITY with the objective to preserve and protect Stover Country Park is thousands of pounds better off having been presented with a cheque by a local supermarket.

Friends of Stover Country Park, which raises funds to pay for improvements to the popular park, gratefully received a cheque for £5,974.

The cheque was given them by staff from the Liverton and Bovey Tracey Co-op stores.

The charity has been the chosen recipient of funds raised through the supermarkets 'Local Community Fund'.

'Friends of Stover Country Park would like to say a huge thank you to Coop Members and our local Coop stores who have raised funds for Stover Park over the last 12 months' a spokesperson for the charity said.

The funds will be used to improve cycling facilities at Stover Park, which will include improved bike storage.
