LIFE-SAVING clubs from Bovey Tracey and Dawlish Warren represented the South West at the national life-saving championships held in Leeds.
The championship consisted of four elements, which all the competitors had to undertake.
These included an aquatic initiative test and a dry First Aid initiative, test where competitors had to deal with an unknown situation, a swim and tow and a rescue line throw.
The clubs were up against competition from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and all the other regions in the UK.
They pulled some fantastic results out of the bag.
Representing Bovey Tracey were Sophie Prywata and Ben, 17 to 19 years open who were 2nd overall; Hannah Blease and Ella Cousins 17 to 19 years ladies - third overall; Laurie Burcher-Lewis and Freya Sullivan 12 to 14 years girls - fourth overall; Zoe Attwood and Orla Sullivan 15 to 17 years girls 13th overall; Jacob Mayell open individual 12th overall and
Tim Brodbelt and Arthur McCauley, 15 to 17 years open 14th overall.
Representing Dawlish Warren were Joe Turner and James Bloor 12 to14 years open who were 10th overall.
When all the results were added together, the South West Region came seventh overall.
The club is running a Santa Dash on Saturday December 16 at 3pm at Josie’s station Road, Bovey Tracey, to raise funds to deliver CPR and defibrillator sessions within the community.
