RESIDENTS of several Dawlish streets have had a whip round to help the town’s Community Larder.

They joined forces to donate 380 items to the larder through the organisation Helping Dawlish.

The group of residents in Carhaix Way, Carnac Drive, Morlaix Close, Finistere Avenue and Roscoff Road are linked through a community Facebook group and the collection was run by one of the organisers.

Previously the group had success in getting fibre cable to the area.

They asked what members could do to help the larder and Redeeming Our Community Dawlish managed to provide a list of items which were needed.

Helping Dawlish was formed in March 2020 as an initial emergency response to the Covid pandemic to help residents cope and support each other.

It is an informal collaboration of organisations including St Gregory’s Church, Dawlish Town Council, Dawlish Christian Fellowship, Strand Centre, Dawlish Community Transport and Assist Teignbridge.

Previously the food bank, the Community Larder helps people in immediate need of food whether due to medical need, isolation or other circumstances.

A spokesman said: ‘Helping Dawlish says a massive thank you to all the residents.’
