STORM Bram is expected to cause flooding and travel disruption in Devon, the Met Office is warning as it upgrades its weather warning.

It comes as the Exeter-based forecaster upgrades its weather warning for rain from yellow to amber.

Rain is expected from 6pm tonight, Monday, December 8, turning heavy at around midnight.

The rain, which is forecast alongside strong winds, is expected to last into Tuesday evening, December 9.

The Met Office says homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings, with power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses likely.

Furthermore, delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible, with spray and flooding leading to difficult driving conditions.

Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life, the Met Office has said.
