From today, February 3, Glendinning Academy is to play host to a new musical enterprise – Sound Lab, a weekly after-school creative music programme aimed at young people aged 12 and above with ASC and/or additional learning needs.
The sessions will explore music through performance, technology and games as well as offering opportunities to create music using acoustic instruments like ukuleles, guitars, violin and even an Appalachian dulcimer.
Sound Lab is scheduled for Thursdays at 3.15pm until 4.45pm and in partnership with Evolve Music.
Evolve Music is a community music charity based in Somerset seeking to deliver accessible music-making activities to communities across the South West especially to those who would otherwise have limited, if any, access to such opportunities.
The charity champions co-creation which sees participants guided through sound using insturments, technology and the occasional piece of fruit to bring to life their musical ideas.
The team behind Sound Lab is expecting to run additional sessions in and around Newton Abbot in the near future.
