CHAINSAW artist Andrew Frost has now finished crafting a throne on Dawlish Lawn.
A dying tree had to be felled earlier this year, leaving a 1.5m stump, and after gauging public opinion about what the stump should become, the suggestion of making it into throne proved the most popular.
The town council commissioned Andrew, from Derbyshire, to fashion the chair which it’s hoped will become a landmark.
The new seat includes waterfowl motifs depicting the famous black swans the town is known for.
The throne will be officially unveiled by Dawlish mayor, Cllr Lisa Mayne, next Tuesday after the national period of mourning has ended.
