A NEWTON Abbot police cadet has been chosen as the High Sheriff’s cadet.

After a long selection day, involving interviews, leadership tests and formal presentations, police cadet Haydn, pictured, has been chosen as the High Sheriff of Devon’s cadet.

PC Dimitra Stewart-Palapanou of Newton Abbot Police said: ‘To be chosen by the High Sheriff is a huge honour, and we are thrilled to say our unit has now secured this prestigious position for three years in a row.

‘This reflects the incredible dedication, character, and hard work our cadets put in every single week.

‘Huge congratulations to our newest High Sheriff’s Cadet, Haydn, we know you’ll represent the unit and the county with pride’.

An ancient, prestigious role, the High Sheriff is His Majesty’s representative for the judiciary and law enforcement in the county.

Haydn will now accompany the High Sheriff at major royal and civic events across Devon, represent the police cadets at formal ceremonies and court openings and act as an ambassador for young people in the local community.
