A NEW micro energy storage system could be built in Bovey Tracey as a planning application is submitted to Teignbridge Council.

Submitted by AMP Clean Energy, the application - reference 26/00321/FUL - is seeking permission for a 200 kilowatt Energy Storage System, known as a ‘Battery Box’, at the verge in-between Newton Road and Pottery Road.

Roughly the size of two car-park spaces, a Battery Box imports electricity from the local network when demand for electricity is low before exporting it back to the grid during periods of high demand.

Teignbridge Council are due to make a decision by April 29.

For more information, and to comment on the application, visit the council’s planning portal and enter ‘26/00321/FUL’ into the search-box.
