A PROPOSAL to build close to ten homes at land on the outskirts of Newton Abbot has been submitted to planners.

Submitted by International Property Consultancy, the application - reference 26/00711/PIP - is seeking to obtain ‘Permission in Principle’ for nine bungalows at land associated with Connybear Farm Shop, St Marychurch Road.

Suitable for developments of between one and nine dwellings, permission in principle is an alternative way of obtaining planning permission for housing-led development.

If granted, an additional ‘Technical Details Consent’, which is submitted as a full planning application, but with specific reference to the ‘Permission in Principle’ consent, is also required before development can begin.

Teignbridge Council are due to make a decision by June 2.

The planning statement for 26/00711/PIP says: ‘The proposal represents the sustainable redevelopment of a previously developed brownfield site, delivering nine bungalows that cater to a specific housing need, particularly for older persons, down-sizers and those with limited mobility’.
