THE number of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests received by Devon and Cornwall Police has been revealed by a FOI.

The force received 1,527 requests in 2024, compared to 1,466 the year prior, the FOI request shows.

There have been more than 1,000 request in 2025 so far.

In 2024, 747 FOI requests resulted in the full disclosure of the information requested, with partial disclosure, refusals and other reasons, such as the requested body not having the information, making up the remainder of last year’s requests.

The Freedom of Information Act gives you the right to see information.

Information can be requested from various public authorities, such as: government departments, schools, colleges and universities, the NHS and many more besides.

Some sensitive information is not available to members of the public.

If this applies, an organisation must say why they cannot disclose some or all of the requested information.

An organisation can also refuse a FOI request if getting the information will cost more than £450.
