ARMED police officers were involved in an incident in Heathfield on Saturday night.
Officers were alerted to an address in Drum Way just after 11pm and soon became concerned for the safety of an occupant, a man, who was making threats to harm himself.
Response officers, armed officers and police negotiators were also called to the scene.
A police spokesman said the incident was ‘brought to a peaceful conclusion’ at 10.45 on Sunday morning.
Following negotiation, the man left the property at around 9.50am on Sunday 4 January.
A man was arrested on suspicion of harassment and has been release on bail, pending further enquiries.
The spokesman said: ‘Devon and Cornwall Police are looking to reassure the residents of Heathfield following an overnight occurrence in Drum Way that involved the closure of local roads and the deployment of several police resources.
‘We would like to thank the local community for their patience whilst the incident was live, local neighbourhood officers have been out to offer reassurance and will be out again should anyone wish to talk to them.’
