THREE new ice cream flavours have been revealed ahead of carnival week in Dawlish.
Dawlish Celebrates Carnival teamed up with award-winning local ice cream shop The Local Scoop inviting the public to come up with the special carnival delights.
The winners have been announced ahead of the carnival which kicks off on August 9.
In the adults section the winner was Nick Murphy with his creation The Lisbon Stop which features vanilla custard flavour ice cream with cinnamon ripple and shortbread pieces and is 'based on the Portuguese Pastel de Nata.
In the children’s competition, Polly Henley came up with Bubble Gum Earth with bubble gum flavour ice cream with white circles and green cookie dough which is designed to look like the world.
And Ottelie Boo Mathers came up with the dairy free Fruit Fandango with peach and pineapple flavour, mango ripple and peach pieces which is described as ‘refreshing on a hot summer's day with a peachy surprise’.
All three flavours will be on sale from the Local Scoop throughout carnival week.
A spokesman for Dawlish Celebrates Carnival said: ‘Congratulations to all the winners and I’m sure we’ll all be rushing to try these new flavours.’
Meanwhile, organisers are busy with final preparations for the carnival which is going ahead despite ongoing work by South West Water.
This year the volunteers were determined carnival will carry on and they have been working hard to adjust to the space available.
It means there will be events based on the beach and a return of the raft race for the first time since 2019.
Also new will be a fancy dress walk into the sea.
The much-loved community parade will carry on and takes place on Friday August 15, following its traditional route through town and finish with a flourish on Brunswick Place.
