AN open day is taking place in Ashburton as the town council is being asked to take responsibility of several areas of the town.

Teignbridge Council is asking Ashburton Town Council to assume responsibility for several areas of the town including: public toilets; recreation ground; Cleder Place and the smaller play-parks.

As such, the town council is hosting an event at the town hall from 11am to 3pm on January 31.

The event is an opportunity to speak with local councillors and share your views and to find out if you would like to get involved in helping Ashburton.

Some of the questions being asked at the event include:

• What assets should the town council take on?

• Would you be prepared to volunteer to help manage some assets?

• How much would you be prepared to contribute via your council tax?
