The Mayor of Newton Abbot, Councillor Carol Bunday, is pictured paying her respects to Her Majesty the Queen, at the town’s Golden Lion Square.
In her tribute to the Quee,n Cllr Bunday said: ‘The Queen served this country over a number of decades with dignity, selflessness and huge energy.
‘Our thoughts and condolences are with all members of the Royal Family at this sad time.’
The designated place for the laying of flowers is Golden Lion Square in Bank Street. The performance area under the white canopy, should be used where possible, making sure there is still access to the benches on the square.
Newton Abbot Town Council would appreciate if flowers are free from any plastic or cellophane wrappings, as the flowers at the end of the period of mourning will be mulched.
A book of condolences has been made available to the public at the council’s offices at Newton’s Place in Wolborough Street.
