REPORTS of a violent incident taking place on Market Street, Newton Abbot, shortly after Midnight led to a man being arrested.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called at 00:40 on Saturday 19 March following reports of a violent incident taking place on Market Street, Newton Abbot.

‘Police immediately attended the scene and arrested one man in connection to this matter, near Beaumont Road.

‘There has been no reported injuries.’

Ezra Robinson, aged 29, from Lee Close, Honiton, has been charged with being in possession of a knife in a public place, and affray.

‘He is due before Plymouth Magistrates Court on Monday, March 21’ said the spokesperson.
