A MAN has been remanded on conditional bail accused of charges of harassment and threatening behaviour.

John Matthews, 36, of Primrose Drive, Newton Abbot, was convicted on October 18 2021 of threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour likely to cause alarm or distress in Brighton on July 7, 2021

The offence was alleged to have been racially aggravated.

On October 18 2021 he also failed to answer bail.

He is further charged with harassment of a woman on June 1 2019 by making unwanted phone calls, leaving voicemail messages and seen outside the complainant’s address.

Magistrates in Newton Abbot granted him conditional bail until April 28 for a case management hearing.
