A MAN has been remanded in custody after being charged over a double stabbing in Newton Abbot.

Aidan Seal, 27, appeared at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, May 5, charged with two counts of section 18 wounding with intent and one count of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Seal was remanded in custody and will appear before Exeter Crown Court on June 4.

Police were called to Highweek Street just after midnight on Monday, May 4, following reports of an altercation involving a group of people.

A man and woman suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital.
