FLOWERS have been laid at a quiet housing estate following the tragic news of the discovery of two bodies.

These pictures were taken at St George’s Lane on the new Lyme View Cavanna Homes estate in Holcombe, near Teignmouth, where the bodies of a young woman and a man were discovered on Thursday.

One resident told the Mid-Devon Advertiser: "We are all surprised that something like this could happen in Holcombe."

Another added: "We saw all the police activity but no-one was actually able to tell us what was going on at the time."

Teignmouth county councillor Martin Wrigley said: "I am sad to hear the news of the deaths of two people in Holcombe, and my sympathies go out to their friends and relations.

"Without pre-judging what happened, I hope this isn’t an example of the mental health crisis that is widespread in the region.

"We must continue our efforts to reach out to our neighbours and friends and encourage people to talk – the long held stigma on discussing how you feel has got to go."

So far police have released the following information:

‘Police are investigating the ‘unexplained deaths’ of two people found at an address in Dawlish on Thursday, October 21.

‘Officers attended the property in Holcombe at 10.45am following a report of concern for welfare.

‘Both deaths are currently being treated as unexplained.

‘Formal identification is yet to be carried out but it is believed that the two people are in their 30s and known to each other.
