BOVEY Tracey firefighters were called out on Tuesday afternoon [February 17] to tackle a garage fire.
Crew were called to a property in Chudleigh following reports of a fire in the garage.
The crew used a hose reel jet to prevent the fire spreading into the property.
The fire was deemed accidental, a spokesperson for Bovey Tracey Fire Station confirmed.
The owners were alerted by their smoke alarm activating in their utility room.
The spokesperson for Bovey Tracey Fire Station said: ‘The owners also closed the door on the fire compartment ensuring that the smoke and flame was contained to the garage which undoubtedly prevented further damage to their home.
‘This highlights the importance of keeping doors to rooms closed as well has having working smoke alarms’.
