A SPECIAL treat to get the people of Kingskerswell into the festive spirit has been set up by members of the parish council.

Kingskerswell Christmas Tree Festival runs from December 8 to 10 at St Mary’s Church.

The parish council is providing one of the decorated trees on show.

It was built from rubbish collected by the council as a result of a litter-picking project called ‘Spikey the Hedgehog’.

If you take a closer look you’ll see that Spikey himself is hidden in their tree.

Cllrs Janet Carter, Tania Elston and Steve Talbot have been working on the project.

‘We think it’s a nice way to get people into the festive mood,’ said Cllr Carter.

The festival is open to the public from 4pm to 8pm today, Thursday, and Friday and from 10am to noon on Saturday with some children’s activities.
