Teignmouth RNLI and Dawlish Coastguard were both called out after reports of a person in the water in the River Teign yesterday.

Solent Coastguard alerted Teignmouth RNLI to unconfirmed reports that someone had fallen off a boat on Tuesday evening (July 7). The RNLI volunteers were paged just before 7pm and Dawlish Coastguard was tasked to help with their response shortly afterwards.

With very little information available about the reported incident, the teams conducted a thorough search of the river and shoreline from Teignmouth Lifeboat Station to Ringmore, Shaldon. They also asked people in the area if they had seen any sign of a person in trouble.

Nothing of concern was found, and Solent Coastguard’s operations room authorised all the emergency services to be stood down.
