AN Indian restaurant in Newton Abbot has been recognised for its culinary excellence as it is named among the very best curry houses in the UK.

Eastern Eye has been awarded a ‘Certificate of Culinary Excellence’ and recognised as one of the ‘Top 100 Asian Restaurants in the United Kingdom 2026’ by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF).

The awards ceremony took place on Thursday, April 30 at the Palace of Westminster, House of Commons and House of Lords.

Hosted by Bobby Dean MP and organised by the Asian Catering Federation, the event brought together more than 200 guests including MPs, ambassadors, dignitaries, industry leaders and restaurant owners from across the country.

The UK Top 100 Awards recognise the country’s finest Asian restaurants, selected through public votes and an expert judging panel.

The restaurant said: ‘We were honoured to represent Newton Abbot at such a prestigious national event and incredibly proud to receive this recognition.

‘For the past 36 years, Eastern Eye has been committed to serving high-quality Indian cuisine, warm hospitality, and memorable dining experiences to the local community and visitors alike.

‘This award reflects the dedication and hard work of our entire team, as well as the continued support from our loyal customers.

‘Receiving this national recognition at the House of Lords marks a truly special milestone in our journey and is a proud achievement not only for our restaurant, but also for Newton Abbot and the wider Devon community.

‘We would be grateful if you could help us share this wonderful news with the local community’.
