ANYONE passing the House of Marbles business at Bovey Tracey might have been worried that a major incident was unfolding.
They can rest assured it was a training exercise by our local fire crews, working hard to keep us all safe.
Newton Abbot Fire Station released these pictures of their exercise, named Breaking Glass, on their Facebook page.
They reported: ‘Bovey Tracey alongside crews from Newton Abbot, Buckfastleigh and Chagford, took part in a multiple pump exercise at The House of Marbles.
‘The exercise (named Breaking Glass) was focused on the crews ability to correctly undertake BA (breathing apparatus) procedures to locate and rescue numerous casualties within the stockroom area of the warehouse.
‘The Incident Commander was able to gather information quickly which led to 4 BA teams being committed.
‘As the scenario progressed and more information became available, it was decided that the incident would be sectorised.
‘During the closing stages of the exercise, two breathing apparatus wearers had activated their distress alarms which meant an emergency team was committed to locate and rescue their fellow firefighters.
‘Training nights like this puts the foundation of good working relationships between neighbouring stations and also a chance to gain valuable knowledge of risks in our local area.
‘We would like to thank Eric from The House of Marbles who stayed on to keep the venue open for us to use.
‘Eric was also instrumental in helping organise Exercise Breaking Glass.’
