IKE and Tina are the new Dawlish disco ducks.
The two Mandarin ducks have joined the Dawlish flock of waterfowl thanks to a group of dancers.
The town’s Over 60s Disco meets once a month at the Strand Centre and the £2 admission fee is donated to charity.
This month, the disco dancers agreed to a bit of a detour and bought a pair of Mandarin ducks.
Recently, the town has lost a number of ducks and the new pair will add to the numbers of waterfowl living on the Brook.
The disco crew handed over £100 to waterfowl warden Don Phillips at the latest disco.
Suggestions were put in a hat for their names and the winning draw was to call them Ike and Tina.
Don was on hand to collect the donation and thanked everyone involved.
Former town councillor Carole Tamlyn came up with the idea of the Over 60s Disco after working on projects to tackle loneliness.
The monthly knees-up aims to give the older members of the community a chance to strut their stuff.
But as well as providing a valuable evening’s entertainment, the entrance fee to the event is used the support charities and good causes.
Carole said: ‘It’s a fun evening and a way to socialise and exercise.
‘It’s a chance to get together, enjoy some music and dancing for a few hours.
‘Numbers are increasing but we still have room to welcome new members.
‘Since we started last year we have raised £700 from the members admission fee that have all gone to local charities.’
The disco runs on the first Tuesday of every month between 6.30pm and 8.30pm and members can bring their own drinks and nibbles.
