SUPPORT the Dartmoor Rescue Group by participating in their 18-mile charity walk along the iconic Templer Way.

The Templer Way Challenge, which is the charity’s biggest annual fundraiser, takes place on April 18.

Departing from Haytor Visitor Centre, the walk traces the route by which granite was exported from Dartmoor via the unique Haytor Granite Tramway and the Stover Canal, finishing on the green at Shaldon, outside the London Inn, where a minibus will transfer participants back to the start.

The Dartmoor Rescue Group comprises four teams to cover the 365 square miles of Dartmoor and beyond.

The teams support each other and often work together when needed. The four teams provide a search and rescue service for not only Dartmoor, but all of Devon and Cornwall, and also work with the Cornwall and Exmoor Search and Rescue teams.

The members of Dartmoor Rescue Group, like those in the overall Mountain Rescue organisation are all volunteers. However, they are professionally trained in searching, navigation, casualty care, search dog handling and swift water rescues.
