A NEWTON ABBOT man must carry out unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to possessing ketamine and cannabis, stealing vodka and assaulting a woman.

Cameron Robert Clement, aged 23, of Spinners Square, admitted having 8.8 grammes,of ketamine, and 49.67 grammes of cannabis. He also admitted stealing a bottle of vodka, worth £24.29 from the Co-op in Newton Abbot.

South and West Devon Magistrates’ Court placed him under a community order and he must carry out 120 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months.

The court forfeited the drugs and ordered him to pay £24.29 compensation for the theft.

Clement also admitted he failed to surrender to custody to the court on August 25 of this year.

He further admitted he breached a domestic violence protection order and was fined £50. Clement also pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman, causing her actual bodily harm and was ordered to pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution service and £95 to fund victim services.

He admitted fraud by using a woman’s bank card to buy goods worth £48.30 without her consent.
