Generous concert-goers donated more than £6,000 to Teignmouth RNLI at one of the summer music shows at Powderham Castle at the end of last month.
The local lifeboat branch was one of the official charity partners for ‘TK Maxx Presents Live at Powderham’, giving an RNLI team the chance to help out at the Teddy Swims concert on June 25 and fundraise on site.
While assisting with VIP wrist-banding and front-of-stage viewing access, the 28 volunteers were able to chat to concert-goers about the RNLI and collect donations in the process.
Volunteer Helm Dave Matthews said: "It was a brilliant event to be part of and it was great to support our fundraising team.
“There was a real buzz throughout the evening, and everyone we spoke to was interested in hearing about the RNLI and incredibly supportive of the work our volunteers do.
The team raised a total of £6,383.43, which will help support the RNLI”s lifesaving work in Teignmouth and around the UK.
Teignmouth RNLI fundraising chair, Wendy Richards Wood, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Live at Powderham for choosing Teignmouth RNLI as one of their charity partners.
“Opportunities like this not only help us raise vital funds but also allow us to engage with thousands of people and raise awareness of the RNLI's lifesaving work.
"We would also like to thank everyone who attended the concert and donated so generously. Raising more than £6,300 in a single evening is an amazing achievement, and every pound raised will help support our volunteer crews as they continue to save lives at sea."
The other charity partners were Rowcroft Hospice for the Alanis Morrisette concert on June 26, followed by the Royal Marines Charity and Exeter Chiefs Foundation for the two Lewis Capaldi shows.
