THE Friends of Homeyards Botanical Gardens in Shaldon are hosting a Coffee Morning at the Castle for national charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

All are welcome to enjoy Coffee at the Castle and raise a mug for cancer on Friday, September 30, from 10am to 12.30pm.

Coffee morning host Danielle Westlake said: ‘Coffee morning is for a fantastic cause and who doesn’t love a social gathering that involves cake?

‘We are lucky in Shaldon to have the wonderful facility of The Homeyards Botanical Gardens Castle in which to host our Coffee Morning.

‘Special thanks to Teignbridge District Council who allow us to use the facility free of charge. We hope to see lots of you there!’

This is the second year of hosting a coffee morning at the Castle.

Last year there was glorious weather, and the group raised over £500 for Macmillan. They hope to improve on that figure this year.

Macmillan Cancer Support’s Coffee Morning is an annual event dedicated to bringing people together over a cuppa to raise vital funds for people living with cancer.

This year the official event date is Friday, September 30, but a coffee morning can be held whenever suits you.

‘Macmillan does whatever it takes to support people with cancer to ensure people with cancer get the support they need to live fully, whether that’s with physical concerns, how they feel, money worries, or something different altogether.

‘But Macmillan rely almost entirely on public donations to make a difference.

‘That’s why it’s never been more important to host a Coffee Morning to ensure Macmillan can continue to deliver the services that people living with cancer desperately need.

‘There’s lots of information online including recipes and hosting ideas.’
