A CHILD has been airlifted to hospital this morning after a collision with a car in Newton Abbot.

A Devon & Cornwall Police spokesman said: ‘Emergency Services were called at around 8:50am following reports of a collision between a car and a five-year-old child on Highweek Road, Newton Abbot.

‘The child sustained an ankle injury and was taken to initially to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by air ambulance.

‘The road was reopened at around 10:15am and enquiries continue into this matter.’
