RESIDENTS at a Teignmouth care home now have a new-look courtyard to enjoy.

The White House Care Home’s grounds were treated to a transformation thanks to the generous efforts of volunteers from EDF Energy.

Led by Kirsten Harrington, a family member of one of the home’s residents, EDF’s Key and Strategic Team chose The White House as the focus of one of their ‘Force for Good’ charity days.

It is an initiative that includes supporting causes related to Alzheimer’s and dementia care.

Under blazing sunshine, the team spent the day painting and refreshing all the courtyard woodwork, injecting life and colour back into the space.

They added vibrant, hand-painted artwork to the walls and fences, giving the garden a warm and playful feel.

Colourful flowers and sensory plants now fill the courtyard with calming scents and soft textures.

A ‘whimsical' wishing well has been placed at the centre of the space and is soon to be transformed into a fairy garden, a thoughtful addition that has already sparked smiles and curiosity among residents.

Tracie Bowen, Registered Manager at The White House Care Home, said: ‘The generosity and spirit shown by Kirsten and the EDF Energy team have completely lifted the heart of our home.

'They brought sunshine in more ways than one.

‘The space is now full of colour, creativity and life - it has become a peaceful haven where residents can relax, feel inspired and enjoy the outdoors in a whole new way.

‘We are truly grateful for their kindness and for the joy they have brought to our community.’

The transformed courtyard is now a favourite spot for residents to enjoy fresh air, quiet reflection and shared moments.
