FIREFIGHTERS from Bovey Tracey were among crews called to tackle a rapidly spreading fire underneath solar panels at Broadclyst this morning.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received multiple calls just before 11am on Monday, August 24, reporting the blaze, with the fire initially believed to cover an area around 300 metres by 500 metres.
Crews requested additional resources after arriving, bringing the total number of fire engines at the scene to ten.
Firefighters used four hose-reel jets, beaters, a drone and a water bowser to bring the blaze under control.
The fire spread across two sectors, covering areas of approximately 90 metres by 270 metres and 90 metres by 200 metres.
Other stations that attended include: Okehampton, Totnes, Exmouth, Honiton and Ottery St Mary.
