AN OUTBREAK of bird flu has been confirmed near Dawlish.

DEFRA has announced ‘highly pathogenic avian influenza’ was confirmed in a small group of what are described as a small group of ornamental captive birds near Dawlish.

The outbreak was discovered on Saturday November 15.

A 3KM Captive Bird (Monitoring) Controlled Zone has been declared around the premises the exact location of which has not yet been revealed.

All birds on the premises will be humanely culled.
