ON Saturday a Big Green Week badge-making session took place at the Make South West artists’ centre in Station Road, Bovey Tracey.

It was just one of a series of events taking place in the town to mark the Great Big Green Week.

Children and adults were invited to make their own badges with materials provided by the centre and some sage guidance by expert stitcher Emma of local company Pomstitchtassel.

Organiser Steve Oldrieve explained: ‘The Great Big Green Week raises awareness of climate change at the local level. It’s run by the Climate Coalition charity, an umbrella group with a huge range of support.’

The week continues tomorrow, Friday, September 29 at the Bovey Paradiso centre of the arts, with the opening of a new display, the ‘Our Green World Exhibition’.

On Sunday, October 2 at 3pm there will be showing the film The Ants &the Grasshopper (cert 12A). Travelling from Malawi to California, Anita meets climate sceptics and challenges their views.

This free event, sponsored by Bovey Tracey Town Council, takes place at the Riverside Centre in Station Road. Light refreshments will be available.
