A TEAM of volunteers from a Dawlish electrical company has returned from a mercy mission taking aid to Ukranian refugees who have made it to Poland.
The team from Red Rock Electrical loaded essential supplies to the Polish border, completing a 2,700 mile round-trip, using eight tanks of fuel.
On their return, the group of volunteers described their ‘successful’ trip as a ‘crazy couple of days’.
They arrived at the morder town of Medyka after a non-stop 20 hour drive from Calais.
They were directed to a local school of Szkoła Podstawowa where aid was being received.
The three vans were unloaded with help from the Polish Army and local aid workers.
A spokesman said: ‘It was incredible to see the amount of aid, that we managed to squeeze into three vans, unloaded into one room.
‘Once again, a massive thank you to all those who donated.
‘Every item you gave us was delivered directly to where it was needed most.’
Drivers Shaun Parnell, Lee Buckland, Dean Fletcher, Mark Boutle, Mark Radford and Matt Simmons were all thanked for their efforts.
They arrived back in the UK at 4am ‘very tired but glad to be able to help’.
One of the vans has since been repacked with donations which wouldn’t fit which has since returned to Poland, being driven by friends from Bristol, the Brunel Cafe Bar in Clifton.
